The new masterplan of the city encompasses a new metropolitan dimension. To a great extent the vision in centred in preserving and promoting green space. TR030 approach includes a survey covering key areas of the future city such as biodiversity, poly-centrism, knowledge, mobility, water, tourism, accessibility, agriculture and energy. This survey is then used to define thirteen strategic projects in key nodes of Tirana. Finally a Chart of rules gives a vision to five metabolic systems (nature, infrastructure, city, agriculture and water). The strategy gives central attention to the definition of open spaces in the city fabric, and combines this system with assets of nature and farming within the new city limits. A forest ring rounds the new metropolis limiting sprawl and improving quality of leisure, sports facilities and biodiversity preservation.
